Bureau of Family Health Open Position: Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program Coordinator

The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health (BFH), in partnership with Southeast Louisiana Area Health Education Center, has an opening for the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program Coordinator. This fulltime position ensures the timely completion of the MCH Title V Block Grant Application and Annual Report, while also providing oversight of performance goals by managing performance measure workplans. The Title V Block Grant is a federal grant from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). This grant is awarded to each state for programs and initiatives that improve the health and well-being of women, mothers, children and youth, including those with special health care needs, and their families. This position will be located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Education in public health or maternal and child health is preferred.

The Title V MCH Program Coordinator will be expected to:

  • Coordinate the completion of the Title V Block Grant Application and Annual Report narrative and forms. This includes but is not limited to: writing, editing, and synthesizing narrative, staying informed of BFH program developments, maintaining detailed, current record of grant requirements, and working with BFH communications and data teams to ensure accuracy of grant reporting.
  • Manage the Title V performance measure workplans, and ensure that performance measure team leads quarterly update their plans, meet once a quarter, and stay up to date with current Title V requirements and priorities.
  • Oversee the development of a Title V advisory group and processes to secure ongoing connection with regional community action groups; work to ensure authentic community voice in Title V workplan.
  • Work with Louisiana’s MCHB Program Officer and other key MCHB staff and partners (such as the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs) to stay informed on the national and state level developments of Title V priorities.
  • Expand and maintain relationships with state agencies, statewide organizations, and community based providers to ensure awareness of and robust referral pathways to services.
  • Collaborate with national, state, and local partners to maximize impact of Title V activities.
  • Develop new relationships with national membership and grassroots organizations with on-the-ground capacity and a desire to advance Title V policy priorities.
  • Assist with preparation for and management of Title V federal site visits.
