More Global Than Ever

After nearly a year of planning, several changes officially take place today at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. These changes result in a stronger alignment of faculty and enhanced education for our students. They will also reinforce our global approach linking domestic and international issues and programs.

The Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences (GCHB) welcomes twelve international health faculty, including several whose work focuses on maternal and child health. The department is also the new home of the MPH in International Health and Development, providing a tremendous level of synergy within our department, and assembling one of the largest number of faculty in social and behavioral science in a school of public health.

This growth in GCHB, and MCH, will provide students with excellent opportunities both in the classroom and in practice. Many of our faculty were already collaborating, as there are common interests in the public health issues and research topics addressed, including social determinants of health, applied and translational research, program monitoring and evaluation, and maternal and child health. Having these shared interests in one department will make such collaboration smoother and allow for greater alignment in addressing domestic and international health, for faculty and for students.

You can now find the new and improved department on the 22nd floor of Tidewater. Visit the Tulane SPHTM Pressroom to learn more about how the school is more global than ever.
