IPPF Evaluation Intern

IPPF/WHR is one of the six regional offices that are part of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. We are currently interviewing for a part-time (approximately 25 hours/week) intern position beginning in mid-January through May 2009 (with the potential to extend) to support the cleaning and analysis of data related to Member Association clinical services, and programming addressing unwanted pregnancy and access to abortion services.

New York City Epi Scholars Program

The New York City Epi Scholars Program is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for the 2009 summer session. The NYC Epi Scholars Program is a training program for graduate epidemiology students interested in health disparities research at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). The program provides an opportunity for students to gain practical skills in health disparities research; work under the guidance of leading epidemiologists; train in a local health environment; and expand practical epidemiological skills and methods through supplemental seminars, forums and workshops. Scholars have the opportunity to also use data for thesis development, as well as work on peer-reviewed manuscripts.

Lead Epidemiologist, City of New York DOHMH

The City Research Scientist will act as a resource to the Agency as well as collaborating City Agencies and advise on best practice study design and methodology in data matching. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: assisting DOHMH and collaborating Agencies with the design, development and deployment of projects and initiatives related to data matching and de-duplication, overseeing as well as conducting preliminary analyses, disseminating methodology best practices, and providing technical support to agency epidemiologists unfamiliar with data matching technology.

Program Analyst, City of New York DOHMH

The Office of Policy and Planning in New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) seeks a Program Analyst to serve as the liaison to DOHMH’s Division of Mental Hygiene. Reporting to a unit supervisor, the analyst will collect, organize, and analyze data in order to evaluate existing MH programs and administrative practices, and assist in the development of new programs and practices. The analyst will also be responsible for working with Division program managers to coordinate and improve processes, including a quarterly review of performance measures. Finally, the analyst will help develop analyses of costs and funding sources for MH programs. DOHMH is a recognized leader and innovator in public health and mental hygiene services nationally and internationally. The Office of Policy and Planning is part of DOHMH’s Division of Finance and Planning (F&P), which has central responsibility and authority for policy analysis, program development, performance tracking and improvement, financial management, resource maximization, and technical assistance. Policy and Planning works with programs throughout the Department to ensure that they have the information, analysis, funding and technical capacity to deliver critical services effectively. The Director of Monitoring and Evaluation will be expected to develop a standard approach to identifying, communicating and mitigating risks in support of the Initiative’s global agenda as well as for specific programs and projects. S/he will also be expected to prepare and present regular reports on CGSGI’s program outcomes and investment portfolios in a transparent manner to the CEO, Country Managers, and various stakeholders.
