Program Officer, Southern Africa
We are seeking a Program Officer to lead International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC)’s work in Southern Africa. The Program Officer, Southern Africa will take primary responsibility for shaping and implementing IWHC’s strategy in the sub-region, design a portfolio of grants to NGO partners in Southern Africa. Even more importantly, the Program Officer will provide them with strategic professional assistance and linkages as they seek to affect national and international policy and program development. S/he will draw on and coordinate with IWHC’s own Communications and International Policy expertise, as well as external resources.

Case management interns will be more client facing. Interns must enjoy working with young children and their families. Interns will interact and disseminate program materials and agendas to the clients.

This is an opportunity for dedicated, enthusiastic and talented health professionals to apply their public health skills though assisting the Mayor’s Office of Health Policy and AIDS Funding by quality assurance. Candidates selected will work with the quality manager in all aspects of quality assurance/improvement activities. This includes data entry, data analysis and report writing results from the medical chart review. Once completed, candidates will leave with real-life experiences working with a governmental entity, grassroots organizations, apply monitoring and evaluation theories, and have experience with policy change in HIV/AIDS services.

CHC staff members work on health issues and projects including obesity prevention, immunization, coordinated school health, media literacy and continuing education for health professionals. Data Manager/Analyst – Virginia Dept of Health
Responsible for data and database management for the HIV Incidence Surveillance and the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) grants. Monitors data flow into respective databases and ensures that collected data are complete, current and valid. Maintains documentation of all respective databases and database management protocol. Recommends procedures to enhance data integrity and data collection. Designs procedures to analyze and evaluate data, produces data summaries and reports, and compiles statistics. Runs routine programs, troubleshoots performance problems, prepares and generates reports, monitors and resolves system issues, and updates/repairs code tables. Provides data management services including data quality checks. Conducts epidemiologic analyses of data to determine statistically significant trends involving HIV incidence estimates and risk outcomes.

Program Assistant – Media Advocates for Prevention
The Media Advocates for Prevention Assistant is responsible for working with program staff to ensure youth participation and representation in the youth-directed initiatives of IWES. Initial responsibilities include assisting with the administration of the IWES adolescent health survey, including: data collection, data management, analysis, and report writing. This is a part-time position (approximately 10-12 hours per week) under the supervision of the Program Director for HIV Prevention and can be adapted to fit the needs of a Capstone or internship.

Evaluation of service for new parents
Position available to assist in the professional execution of a study evaluating a service program for new parents. Requires a B.A., B.S., in psychology or related field, M.A. preferred. Experience with data collection methods, Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Experience with children, observational coding, and/or families preferred. Applicant should have a strong sense of scientific integrity and enjoy working as a member of a team. Collaborative responsibilities will include training and supervising research assistants, interviewing couples and children, and applying observational coding systems.
